It's fall and that means... preparing for the cold.

So the leaves are changing and the weather has offered a nip in the air, so what does that mean for boaters? Well that depends on the boater...

Some boaters will take their boat into a shop or have a mechanic come to them and winterize the boat. Which should include changing the oil and possibly replacing the impeller. What some will forget to do is have the boat detailed. Gel-coats are porous and require protection from the elements. In this case being covered up for several months. Also, don't forget the seats! Clean and treat them against mold and mildew and you won't have to work so hard in the spring.

But if you plan on using your boat in the months ahead get yourself a really good bilge heater. That way you can boat longer and protect your engine all at the same time. It's nice to know that on those beautiful Saturdays around News Years that you can go out and enjoy the afternoon on a peaceful lake. Take advantage of it.

And as always if you need help with any of this, contact Nautical Workz and we'll be happy to help.
